The fan on my Radeon 7500 is making noises suggesting
it is not long for this world.

Can the fan be replaced by a finned heatsink if there
is space for it (next slot empty)?

Otherwise, where to get a replacement fan?

ATI will replace the fan under warranty, but they make you ship the
whole board back !!! (Someone spent too much time watching Jim Carey in
"Dumb and Dumber and Dumberer")

I had a board with a bad fan an no other problems, so I put up with it
for a year. Then another Radeon board with a GOOD fan developed a
genuine video problem and had to go back for a serious repair.

Guess what I did, ha-ha, ha-ha !!

Had the same problem.
Bought a small fan with cooler attached. Took the old cooler off. (This
needed some force and an old screwdriver...)
Glued the new cooler on with rapid-glue and attached it to the power supply
with a special plug, that fitted between the power supply and the cd-rom.
No problem since then (6 months ago).
(However I cut my finger on the Ati cooling block.. Very sharp!)

Good Luck
