When I try to use 720x480 on the Stream format properties page in the Video Capture wizard by the time I get to the Video Settings page and hit next a message pops up saying "the device is currently in use...". Changing the output size to 720x288 produces the same message. Going back to the properties dialog and setting the Output size to 720x240 seems to work. I'm trying to use "High Quality Video (large)" because I want to capture home videos (VHS-C) and eventually write them out to DVD format somehow.

Am I on the right track using these settings or is my setup flawed? I tried doing captures in Nero and I have worse problems with the Audio. I thought WMM2 with Sonic might work for me. I'm using an ATI Wonder capture card. I've got all the latest drivers, directx, WMEncoder etc. Can anybody help, or recommend other software to convert VHS-C -> DVD. I will be using a Pioneer DVR-107D to burn.

Thanks in advance

Rich,

For digital video capture via firewire, the choice is DV-AVI (with a size of
720x480).

For capture from analog sources, I find that I get different capture results
using the same capture equipment and source. On my 2.4 Ghz laptop I get
640x480 using a Dazzle 80, but on my 866Mhz desktop, I get 320x240. That's
with any analog source that I plug into the Dazzle 80.
