LOOKING FURTHER INTO THE EVENT ERROR LOG I HAVE
DISCOVERED THAT THIS ALL SEEMS TO BEING CAUSED BY THE
SYSTYEM BIOS ATTEMPTING TO ACCESS A USB DEVICE/DEVICES AT
A SECURED PORT ADDRESS WHICH IT HAS NO RIGHT TO DO. ALL
THE MICROSOFT MESSAGE BASE INFORMS US TO DO IS TO CONTACT
OUR SYSTEM VENDOR - WHICH IS ME AND ASK FOR AN UPDATED
BIOS FIX. THE MOTHERBOARD IS AN 'A OPEN' AK73 PRO(A).

DARE I ATTEMPT TO DOWNLOAD THIS AND ATTEMPT TO RUN A
SYSTEM BIOS FIX?

IF I TURN OFF MY COMPUTER, I CANNOT RESTART IT UNLESS I
RUN AN ELECTRIC HAIRDRYER INTO THE POWER SUPPLY UNIT TO
HEAT IT UP. I HAVE JUST REPLACED MY OLD 300 WATT ATX
MORETEC POWER SUPPLY UNIT FORA BRAND NEW ONE THINKING
THAT THIS WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM - BUT I AM WRONG. THE
PROBLEM STILL EXISTS WITH A BRAND NEW MORETEC 300 WATT
ATX POWER SUPPLY UNIT!

ROGER SACKS

PERHAPS I HAVE GOT TOO MANY FANS AND SYSTEM USB DEVICES
ALL HOOKED UP AND MY MOTHERBOARD CANNOT WORK OUT WHEN IT
IS ON OR OFF? HOT OR COLD?

OPERATING SYSTEM WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL OEM EDITION
MICROSOFT WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL UPDATES = SOME, FOUND
SEVERAL SEIZED PC UP AND HAD TO UNINSTALL THEM -THIS
COULD STILL BE THE PROBLEM PERHAPS .... THAT'S WHEN IT
ALL STARTED TO GO BELLY UP WITH MY SOFT POWER KEY BEING
UNRESPONSIVE WITHOUT A COLD POWER OFF AND HEATING THE
POWER SUPPLY UP.
CPU = AMD 1.4MHZ (NOT XP)
SYSTEM RAM MEMORY 768MB
SVGA = GFORCE 4 MX 128MB RAM
HARD-DISK DRIVE 40GB 7,200 RPM MAXTOR
FLOPPY DISK DRIVE
CDROM 52 SPEED READER
CDROM DVD READER
CDROM/CDRW
TWO SYSTEM COOLER FANS
A MICROSOFT INFRA-RED USB MOUSE PLUGGED INTO A PS2 ADAPTER
ONE EXTERNAL USB 2.0 4 PORT HUB
AND I HAVE NOW ADDED ALONG WITH THE NEW POWER SUPPLY UNIT
AN INTERNAL USB 2.0 4 PORT HUB AND AM RUNNING MY EXTERNAL
USB HUB INTO THIS ONE.

I HAVE NATURALLY TRIED TO START MY P.C. WITHOUT ANY USB
DEVICES ON EXCEPT MY MOUSE BUT THE SAME PROBLEM HAS
EXISTED FOR SEVERAL MONTHS NOW.

MY HAIR IS A LITTLE GREYER, I'M HOWEVER, SLIGHTLY AMUSED
AT THIS UNLISTED PROBLEM AND A LITTLE EAGER WHEN HAVING
TO TURN OFF THE MAINS POWER THEN TURNING IT BACK ON SAY 1
MINUTE LATER AND BLOWING A LADIES HAIRDRYER INTO THE BACK
OF MY POWER SUPPLY UNIT.

ALL OF THE TIME I LEAVE THE SYSTEM RUNNING - IT STAYS
RUNNING, BUT THE MOMENT IT IS HARD POWERED OFF - THAT'S
IT,, IT REMAINS DEAD UNTIL I UTILISE THE HAIRDRYER TO
HEAT UP THE POWER SUPPLY UNIT.

WELL ..... IT'S GOODBYE FROM HIM AND GOODBYE FROM ME ...

ROGER & OUT

ANY IDEAS AND I SHALL BE EXTREMELY GRATEFUL. DON'T SAY
GET A NEW P.C. I'VE ALREADY THOUGH ABOUT THAT. MAYBE A
NEW MOTHERBOARD, CPU AND MEMORY!

ROGER (OVER & OUT)
