I'm getting tons of popups that say they are from
680180.net, but I can't find how to get rid of them.
Also, I think these are causing my IE browser to close.
Sometimes it opens fine, but I go to check my yahoo mail
or the weather update and the window just closes on me.
Please help! Thanks!

That didn't find anything, but thanks. I've installed
avast 4 home and it got rid of tons of trojans, but not
the problem. Is there anyway to completely uninstall IE
(I have another browser) and reinstall it. I tried, but
it stayed in the computer.

You cannot uninstall IE 6. There is a way to disable it, but with your
"other" browser you will not be able to do as much on the web as with
IE 6. You'll still have to use IE to use some features on some web
sites.

Download a Spyware/Adware program such as Adaware or Spybot Search and
Destroy then update the definitions. Run a scan to see what program is
delivering pop-ups.

SP2 for IE will have it's own pop up stopper built in.

Install this HOSTS file and it will be blocked.

The best way is to block the server from tracking you in the first place
Blocking Ads with a Hosts File and AdShield. Under the Security Tab download
the hosts.zip file.

To get rid of it completely from your computer get hel from this forum.

Go to http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip
Download "Hijack This!" [freeware] Latest version is 1.98.

Unzip the Download file in a NEW FOLDER that you can create before you start
the download.
DO NOT install in your Desktop folder.
DO NOT use any of the TEMP folders that are presently in your computer.
Double-click "HijackThis.exe" and Press "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log"
button.
Click: "Save Log" (generates "hijackthis.log")

Next, HijackThis | Config [button] | Misc Tools [button]
Click: Generate StartupList log [button] (generates "startuplist.txt")

Next, go to the below location:

Sign in, then copy/paste your HijackThis .log file in your message.

I was out of town end of last week, when I got home I saw that an update for
IE6 had been automatically downloaded and installed......

Now I have a problem I haven't had in ages......pop-up ads all over the
place. I'm running the google AND yahoo toolbars, both with popup blocking,
but doesn't have any effect. Every time I run the updated version of IE6, I
start getting the popups.....

I have run Adaware, and Spybot, each time they find DSO exploit stuff and
clean it out.....each time I load IE6, it all gets reinstalled.

This latest "update" is bad news as far as I'm concerned.......

Download and install this HOSTS file it will prevent you being redirected to
the site.

The DSO exploit from Spybot is a false/positive let it be, or try this tool
to fix it.

We spent all day and half the night hunting for a way to get rid of
the adserv.680180.net pop ups which were crashing IE, including
running the most recent versions of Ad-Aware SE Personal and Spybot.

We called Microsoft and they had us run or anti-virus stuff, which is
the latest updates of McAfee and Grisoft AVG (the paid for version).
We did all of the highjackthis stuff from the spyware sites and
deleted all of that and everything else in sight that looked
suspicious. We emailed the dudes at whoisprivacyprotect.com (owners
of adserv.680180.net).

None of it worked. We are sick of Internet Explorer and all the
bologna that comes with it.

Mozilla 1.7.2 here we come.
