I just built my first system using an Athlon 64, it's a 2800 socket 754. I
also got a Zalman 92mm cooler which is something I've always wanted to try.

Let me tell you, this thing runs cooooool. I'm talking 26 degrees, people.
And the fan is SILENT. I've built plenty of XP systems and the CPU temps are
always anywhere from 48-55 degrees using my usual Thermaltake coolers.

So, does the 64 run that much cooler than the XP, or is the Zalman that much
better of a cooler? If it's the Zalman, I'm yanking my 'vacuum cleaner'
coolers and installing some Zalmans!

It's the XP running cooler. I'm running a 64 with the stock AMD fan, and
the system is silent. In my downstairs office, where there's no
background
noise, I sometimes can't even tell that the system is turned on. In
contrast, my XP system which is running in my bedroom sounds like a 747 at
cruising altitude.

You meant..its the 64 running cooler..right? :)
