What happens if I put a 64 bit PCI card into a 32 bit PCI slot, will it work

Are you sure your PCI slot is 64 bit? I heard that most slot are 32 bit
only, but putting a 64 bit card in will still work.
FYIA friend bought a room full of stuff at an auction, it was the workshop
for
a computer company. It's a scsi card of some sort. I'm certain my PCI slot
is 32 bit but you are correct, a 64 bit PCI card will work in a 32 bit
slot.

I read that like a year ago and looked into many motherboard manuals, they
usually mention that the PCI is a 32 bit thingy. I had never seen one with
64 bit crossing my eyes and i had asked some a old friend of mine, he said
that it's rare to see PCI implemented as 64 bit on ordinary PC
motherboard.
I didn't know that. I previously thought they ran at only 33 or 66mhz. One
interesting thing I realised a while ago is that these things don't actually
run at 33, 66, 100 or 133mhz but at 33.3333 recuring, 66.6666 recuring etc.
