Mr. Vista

Considering 64bits is > 32bits, is the 64bit version of Vista twice the
value of the 32bit version?.

No. You should actually get a discount for using it. Drivers are
much harder to find and with the Patchguard Kernel protection in
64 bit Vista, some software will no longer work...and most apps are not
ported to 64 bit or multithreaded so they don't fully utilize a
64 bit OS (MS didn't even release a 64 bit version of Office 2007!)
.... otherwise it is great.

Mr. Vista,

Only Vista x64 comes with BitLocker and provides additional inherent
Security Features.

Have installed and used Vista x64 for a very long time on many computers.
Today, when "properly" Installed x64 has no troubles self-loading devie
drivers for major hardware. Almost daily. Vista's x64 user functionality
improves, learned from trial and error. Yes, there was atime that locating
drivers was a near nightmare, but not today, unless you have a very old
machine, then maybe.

Both the x86 and x64 versions of Ultimate Edition and Enterprise Edition
have BitLocker included.

I'm quite surprised that it's not also in the Business Edition...

I'd have thought most corporates, certainly SMEs, will be upgrading from
WinXP Pro to Vista Business, not Vista Enterprise, especially on their
laptops...

Surely one of the main purposes of BitLocker is to prevent access to
sensitive data on stolen equipment - business people are far more likely to
have their laptops stolen when they're travelling than their desktops back
in the office...

Not so. x86 Vista in the Enterprise and Ultimate versions has Bitlocker.

Jane C,

You are absolutely correct, again !!

Although, as you are aware, 64-bit Vista provides the highest level of
Security, that's subject to change, but resources inform me that it is very
doubtful.

LoneWolf,

The pharmacokinetics of Valium is very short.

Have you considered using Polonium-210 ? the sedative value of Polonium-210
provides a much deeper state of sedation.

Mark, I agree with you. Especially considering that Business Edition is
also available on Volume License for Corps/SMEs. Very few SMEs would need
the Media Center stuff that is in Ultimate.

I suspect it might have been one of those 'marketing decisions'.........

And an unfathomable one, to my way of thinking...

I work almost exlusively with SMEs and, from discussions with them on
upgrading the software I write for them to be Vista-compliant, almost all of
them are going to be upgrading from WinXP Pro to Vista Business... It is
generally agreed that BitLocker would be useful additional security, but not
worth the price difference between Business and Enterprise...

You said "Vista x64 provides the highest level of Security compared to
32-bit Vista"
this is based on what?.

Well he may be talking about patchguard, but with FireWall2's posting
history it's equally possible he's just posting while stoned again.
