550 error among others.

I have been having the hardest time trying to set up Outlook to work with
Verizon DSL. I've been on the phone with 4 operators who all say it is not a
Verizon problem, because I am able to login and send email through their
homepage, but not with Outlook. I've even spoken to Microsoft who wanted to
charge me for help with Outlook, so I said no thanks. When I send an email
with Outlook, I get a undeliverable back with a 550 error, relaying now
allowed. I AM authenticating to my outgoing server correctly. Everything is
set up correctly, I've been through this a thousand times trying to figure it
out. All my settings are correct. but I still cannot send email. Anyone have
any ideas other than "authenticating" because I already am. Thank you.
 
so is it my firewall then? i asked Verizon if I needed to make a change in
the settings on the firewall and they said no.
