I am installing from XP Pro 64 via a mounted ISO image. I cannot burn a
disk since I do not have a dual-layer dvd.

Install starts fine but while copying files suddenly reboots. I am left
with a $WINDOWS.~LS directory on the partition of about 3.5GB. Parition
size is 22GB . Any ideas? The only thing I can think of is to remove all
items I can from memory and the tray before starting. Perhaps another iso
download?

Hmm.. it should work as a mounted image - I tend to do this to save DVD's.
However try copying over the files from the virtual drive mounted onto a
seperate folder on the harddrive, and see if that helps :o)

My own suggestion worked!
Removing items from the tray and memory worked, three previous installs
had all failed as noted.

You don't need a dual layer DVD. Just burn on a plain 4.7 GB DVD the
version you prefer (x86 or x64) loading disc image in your burning
software, then use the DVD directly.
