Anyone know if...
nVidia controller is managing RAID 1 on these two drives.
After only 1 week of seemingly perfect performance, the MediaShield
utility from nVidia reports that while the drives are "healthy" the
mirror is "degraded".
MB is the new Dell XPS600 with the Intel 955 chip @ 3.46 GHz and the
975 chipset with 1066 MHz FSB. I've asked L2 support from Dell if I can
just delete the array's 2nd drive (hopfully leaving my primary drive
intact) and then recreate the array - without having to totally do an
OS reinstall. I've seen some things about "morphing" the first drive,
but don't find any Maxtor or nVidia utilities to do that.
It's been 24 hours and Dell just called saying they still don't have an
answer for me. It took me about 5-10 hours to totally load and update
all my software and I really don't want to have to do this again. They
said they would call tomorrow... <groan>
