First off I've got a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 and logitch X-530 speakers with
analog 3x miniplug (green, orange, black). Anyways in Vista beta 2 i cant
seem to get 5.1 to work, i have xp home on a 2nd HDD and everything works
fine in xp. The stereo works ok in vista (i say ok because it crackles and
pops sometimes) but when set to 5.1, sound only comes out of front left and
right. I've tried the automatic drivers that vista used and drivers from
creative, same result.

I had the exact same experience as you with my old sb live card back when XP
was beta! Weird. Anyway, I think my Audigy2 is working okay... perhaps you
should try to reinstall the drivers? Also, run dxdiag. Good luck!

Chuck,

I have a similar setup: SB Live Audigy ZS, 5.1 Creative speakers, and the
occasional pop hiss from Vista. The same configuration works in my Windows
XP install on another volume. Since the Windows Vista Audigy ZS drivers from
Creative are still beta themselves, they are not WHQL certified. Hence,
there will still be problems. Attribute this to beta for now.

I managed to remove the pops and hisses by upping teh playback setting for
that device (in my case Audigy 2 ZS).

Go to Control -> Audio Devices
Click on Properties when the device is selected. Go to the Options Tab (far
Right) and I had to put it on 24bit, 44100 Hz (Studio Quality) before I had
the pops and hisses go away.

STILL no 5.1 though ... only Right, Left and Sub. ACK!
