Hi,

I am running Active Directory DNS that forwards outside queries to 2
dns servers running Bind 9. I have added a 4th level domain named
something like this:

http://dev.devwebsite.mydomain.com. This site is using Host Headers
and is reachable on the outside through Bind just fine but no one on
the inside can reach it and it doesn't seem to be forwarding out. One
problem I think I see is that since this is all a sub domain of my
Active Directory domain "mydomain.com", it is looking to resolve
itself inside and since I can't enter sub domains in AD higher than
3rd level, it never looks outside to resolve itself since "mydomain"
is on the inside if I am making any sense at all. (I apologize; it
has been a long day so far) Please correct me if I am way off or not,
I have pretty tough skin.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

Makes alot of sense. All you have to do, is manually create those subdomains
under your domain and then create the host called dev and give it the IP.

As Deji said, you can go as deep as you want in the tree.

Thanks guys,

Works like a charm. Somtimes the obvious is where I look last. Thanks for
flipping my head around in that direction.
