so 56 kbps modem means that it can download maximum of 5.6 kilo bytes ( not
bits ) per second........am i right


i have windows xp installed when i download some softeaere it is downloaded
at a constant speed ranging from 8 to 4 kilo bytes per second but when i
star the windows task manager and click the networking tab in the network
usage i am give taht 70 % of the network is used so what that means
........... is there any software that can also make that remainning bandwith
..........
 
56,000 divided by 8 is 7 kilo-bytes, there is compression
available and also over-head. You will not get a
steady-state speed average above 4 to 5 KB/s on dial-up.
