Hi

We keep getting this error with a list of failed addresses.
Seems to be system generated and not from my isp server.
Only have a max of ten addresses on the list and it always used to work.
In some cases the recipiants report that they still got the message.

Anyone help?

The official definition of SMTP Reply Code 452 is "Requested action not
taken; insufficient system storage". Note that this is not the same as the
often seen error 552, "Requested mail action aborted; exceeded storage
allocation".

Are you sending mail through a company mail server? If so, it is possible
that it was recently re-configured to limit the number of recipients; as a
spam-fighting measure, many ISP's (and privately operated mail servers)
limit the number of addresses to which a single email can be sent.

Hi

No, its via the Orange ISP that we have been with for some years now.
It seems to come in instantly.
I do not think its from the server due to the speed it comes in.
Its there after the mail has been sent.

I feel it coming from within Outlook!

No, it's coming from Orange.net and, if this is truly new, you need to
contact them to see if they have recently changed policy regarding multiple
recipients and/or large attachments. You see the error message instantly
due to the way SMTP mail works, which goes something like this:

You: Knock, knock (on the SMTP provider's door)
SMTP server: Hello (actually, "HELO"), who is there?
You: "EHLO", It's me, Mike on the south coast of the UK.
SMTP: Who is your mail from?
You: I told you, Mike on the south coast of the UK.
SMTP: Who is the mail going to?
You: John
SMTP: Send me the data or additional recipients
You: Mary
SMTP: Send me the data or additional recipients
You: Fred
SMTP: Send me the data or additional recipients
You: Paul
SMTP: Send me the data or additional recipients
You: Peter
SMTP: Whoa! Stop there, you've hit my acceptable limit for recipients!
SMTP: Send data now
You: Data.....
SMTP: Bye.

Your mail software signs off and already knows that a problem was
encountered, hence it displays the error message immediately.

PS: Regarding "EHLO", I wasn't trying to be cute and give you a British
accent; that is the actual required response to "HELO".

Hi
That's a great answer but how can you overcome this?
I have to send emails to far more than ten recipiants and always get the
same answer.
I have tried using different email addresses to send from so I presume it is
my Orange provider?
Cheers
Peter
