4 duplicate phone listings instead of 4 different ones

Often, when I open Contacts, it shows 4 duplicates of the
Business phone number, instead of 4 different listings.
It doesn't happen always, just intermittently. All the 4
or more different listings with different phone numbers
are still there, but I must search for them each time.
Can anyone suggest how to prevent this?

Not without your stating which Outlook version and which view. You left no
clues.
 
Sorry, I use Outlook 2003, Address Card view. Hope that
enables a reply.

Sounds like a corrupt view.
Try starting Outlook once with the /cleanviews command line switch. This
switch (and a few other really helpful ones) are discussed here:
