Hi there!
A friend of mine has come up with a problem. He wants to find a proggy to
do...umm. this is what he said:

"Thanks Bryan, but it's 3D (vectoring) that I'm looking for.
Mainly, what I am trying to achieve is, I want to analyse a set of photos,
trace
outlines, then use the outlines to build a 3D object that can be used in
something like AutoCAD, or another similar program that will allow extremely
hi-res rendering.
My goal is to use some of the thousands of images I have of my cars to build
a
3D object."

Can anyone help the poor chap?
TIA
Bryan

There used to be a *not freeware* package called Canoma, or something
like that, that you took photographs and drew points on them and it would
expand it into a 3D model. Good for squares (buildings etc.) as I
recall, but completely useless for curvy shapes like cars. That was a
while ago though.

Cheers matey, I'll pass on your advice :)

This sounds like photogrammetry. The only freeware program that I know of,
would be Photomodeller Lite.

Hope that helps, Dan.

Photomodeller Lite is no longer supported or distributed by the author. I
found a link here:
http://www.softlookup.com/download/down4954.html
Apparently the lite version is limited to the total number of points you
can have in your object, but I can't tell you for sure....am still
downloading it.

Cheers -1/2 cut (I can't remember the alt no), and Dan. I'll pass on your
well informed advice and suggestions. :)

The technique is called photogrammetry. I found this:

....but the description makes my head hurt.
