Heya, I'm looking for an uncluttered and uncomplicated 3D
modeller that, ideally, will also convert text into 3D objects
that may be manipulated and textured. Any feedback would
be greatly appreciated, thanks. :-)

Uncomplicated? I don't know, but try these:

http://blender3d.org
--> open source, but not trivial to use. Excellent tutorials
provided, though.

http://www.wings3d.com/
--> open source, also a bit of a learning curve. It is a bit more
intuitive than Blender, IMHO. Excellent tutorials available here
too.

http://www.povray.org
--> not a visual modeller, 3D scenes are programmed using a scene
description language. So: a bit of a learning curve. But this one is
very very powerful, look at the gallery images on the website to see
just how powerful.

Maybe these are just too complicated for your needs... in that case
someone else might have a better solution.

Wald
