Andre

I am getting the following error when changing display settings in MS Flight
Simulator 2004 AKA FS9

Your computer cannot currently use 3-d hardware acceleration. Software 3-d
mode has been enabled. Some graphical features may not appear in the
software mode. Do you wish to see this message the next time Software 3-D
mode is enabled Yes/No.

I am using a ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon card with the latest driver release

Thanks for any help on this

PS All display card settings are at the default level

There is an issue somewhere on ATI website regarding this problem. To solve
this issue, edit your display cfg file within Flight Simulator 2004 folder
and manually correct the version number of the driver for the ATI card in
the cfg file. You may use the number version of the driver you currently
use. This is because Flight Simulator checks in this database if the driver
version matches minimum requirements and there is a mismatch in the driver
detection.

Thanks Ledan,
I checked their website but must have overlooked this
one.

Will try it and report back

I found the issue on ATI website is relevant to Microsoft Combat Flight
Simulator and Windows ME, but the symptoms are very much the same in FS2004
and XP that I decided to apply the solution to FS2K4. Here is the link to
the article. In FS2K4 you will find the drivers listings for a variety of
boards in the display.cfg file. Just edit the line relevant to your graphic
board
and your version of Windows and change the version number with the one you
currently use (see ATI Control Panel/Advanced/Options). Last thing, I have
recently reinstalled FS9 with the latest catalyst drivers and did not
encounter this issue.
