3d accelerator was nuked

I had a recent problem with my video driver being corrupted by nasty adware that invaded my system. The driver is reinstalled and everything is cleaned out and working nicely, except the screensaver, which says it can't find the 3-d accelerator. I assume it's a DirectX feature?.. I don't know how to correct this. Help
 
Have you tried reinstalling directx.??
