Hi, Does anyone have any expert knowledge in setting up a 3com officeconnect
print server?
I have a home network setup with a switcher connecting all computers and to
a router for internet access. This all works well and I wish to add this
print server (PS). I connected the PS to the switcher using a standard RJ45
cable and to my Epson printer with a parallel lead. On power up it prints a
page thus:-
Castelle OfficeConnect Print Server REV 6.0.0 built Mar 02 1998. 05:29:55 PM
Serial Number: 04508124
NOS Settings: TCP/IP
-----------TCP/IP Configuration--------------
INTERNET ADDRESS [H/W]: 10.169.235.3
GATEWAY ADDRESS [H/W]: 10.169.235.254
SUBNETWORK MASK [H/W]: 255.255.255.0
AVAILABLE TCP/IP PRINT SERVICE PORTS:
PRINT PORT PTP SERVICE
LPD SERVICE STATE
lpt1 TCP/IP [4626]
TCP/IP [515] On
lpt2 TCP/IP [4626]
TCP/IP [515] On
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I could not find anything relevant to 3com print server but the Castelle
site did have some info and some software:
1) Port Monitoring Software: WNTCONF and WNTRARF
2) Castelle Print Server Administration Utility - MPAdmin
Unfortunately neither of these pieces of software seem to be able to
communicate with the PS (if I am using them correctly)
I thought that I should try and change the IP address to match my system but
I am having no luck with the software.
I opened up the box and there are a number of jumpers. Can I reset back to
factory settings using these?
I did buy the PS cheaply at a radio rally so it may be that the LAN port is
defunct but the fact that the LED's seem to act correctly and that it does
print out its configuration suggests it is OK. Therefore I hope there is
someone who can help me get it going!
thanks,
