Hi !

We have a 3Com Supersack 3 firewall / VPN
we setup the VPN in the 3Com, and I install it
vpn client(Safenet Soft-pk) on my computer at home

The VPN conection is fine I have access to my
firewall and can ping internal server ok, but
can't access the file on my file server.

I setup a account on my home PC that exist on
my domain controller and log a session with it
but I can't access the share on my file server
( don't remember the exact error message : something
like that: you don't have the trust memebership to access
this domain group) I try to join the domain over the vpn
and many other prompt command, but nothing work

DO someone have idea for my prob

Thank

You don't need to join the domain to access the domain resources. You
just need to have valid credentials. If you are on a LAN, you automatically
log in to the domain at startup. When you set up a VPN connection, you have
already done a local login.

If your local login isn't valid on the domain then you get funny
messages. Have you tried using the "Run as" option and specifying the
username/password which is valid on the domain?

Hi !

Thank for the reply

I understand the part with the local login
But what do you mean by the ( run as )
Do you mean in local policy ??? not shure what
you mean !

Thank

The client must use credentials which are valid on the domain. Many
applications allow you to specify a different username/password to run
under. This can be accessed by right-clicking the shortcut and selecting the
"Run as" option.

If a shortcut does not offer a Run as option, you can enable it in the
shorcut's properties. Click the Shortcut tab, select Advanced to get the
Advanced properties box.

Hi !

I understand now, but it won't be that
I manage to get access to my share in this way
I right click on Network Neiborghood and do a Search
computer, and enter the IP adress, hte host appear
and then click on it and ask for User Pass, and all the
share appear, so now I have to find a way of doing a script
or bacht file, to put it transparent to my user

Do you have any idea of a way of doing so ??

Thank

Map a persistent drive to the server by the server's IP address. That way when the client VPNs in, simply go to My Computer
and double click the mapped drive connection. Another option would be to create a Shortcut on the desktop that includes the
UNC path to the server by it's IP address. It would look somthing like "\\ipaddress\share" where "ipaddress" is the IP address
of the server.

Thank you,
Mike Johnston
