I have a problem. One spreadsheet has 10 tabs with each tab detailing
various bits of information, containing links and hidden columns etc. The
whole file is only 2Mb and works perfectly fine. I copied and pasted all
tabs separately (paste special formats, then paste special values) to a new
spreadsheet - note this only has values and formats in it has ballooned to
32 mb and keeps crashing my system. I have no links in the new sheet and I
cant understand what is taking up the memory when its simply and value file.
Can any of you Excel whizzo's help me out, I am going round in circles.

Cheers Carl

I've never seen the stuff you did increase the size of the file, but if you hit
ctrl-end on a few worksheets, does it take you way past what you think the
bottom rightmost cell should be?

If the answer is yes, you can use some of the techniques at Debra Dalgleish's
site to try to reset this used range.

There's no chance that you added a bunch of objects (pictures???) to the
worksheets is there?

I don't know whether this is a "normal" growth, but I've noticed earlier
that a workbook with plain values takes much more space than the "original"
with (only) the formula's.

However, even then I think that 2 ==> 32 Mb is extreem.
