I have a series of 800X600 AVI files andt I would like to place a short
320X240 intro video on top of or in the begiining of.
In short, the 320X240 starts and explains what viewer will see in the
800X600 clip.
Any ideas on how/if this can be done in Movie Maker

Hello,

Grab a copy of the free program MovieXone...place the small clip on the
timeline and do not stretch it to fit...and place your main video on the
timeline at the end. You do NOT need to do Picture in Picture....but you
can do it the way you envisage with MovieXone.

MovieXone is often found on the cover disks to magazines...if you are stuck
and cannot get a copy let me know and I will make it temporarily available
to you on my web site

If I understand you correctly all you want is both of these to be rendered
one after the other ?
You dont need anything for this. Just place your first clip (320x240) on the
timeline and then place the second one (800x600). And render (File->Save
Movie File...).

Both of the files will be scaled automatically to the output size you select
in the "Save Movie" wizard.

But that method will make the 320 x 240 screen appear pixelated and make it
stretch to fit. I would think that if the poster wanted them to be the same
size he would have made them the same size in the first place.

That's what I thought as well. I think the poster wants kind of a
Picture-in-Picture effect but unfortunately can't achieve that with MM2.

I was really hoping your suggestion would work as it seems so simple.
But, the 320X240 plays fine and when it gets to 800x600 is is shown at
320X240.
If I switch to full screen, both are poor quality.
I am trying to distribute on web.
Thanks

Yep...that or a small image on a larger screen followed by another clip
that does fill the screen.

Some just have to be right...even when they are wrong :)

Well I did say that the result you get WOULD happen. Have you considered my
option?

Something I can do for you is to create it the way you want...We Have The
Technology :) I can set up an ftp account so that you can send me the video
clips and I will put the finished result back there so that you can collect
it at your leasure. Let me know if you are interested

I have an older program by MGI alled VideoWave that will do what you want to
do JMS but I haven't done the research to see if it still exists and I
bought it about 6 years ago or so.
I know I remember it doing a PIP effect as well as many other kind of cool
transitions and effects that MM can't do but I haven't used it in a while
because it's rendering is slow.
Oh it is actually made by Roxio. I just did a quick google:

kind of problem with that?
