To install 64 bit version - you must have a 64 bit processor - your dual
processor is probably 32 bit.

If you have the CPU designation...eg AMD Athlon 64x2 3800
we would be able to help you more

Hello,

I have the same problem and i have the AMD Athlon 64x2 3800
I tought it was 64 bit! Can you help me and the pianoman.

What is your complete hardware configuration?

I have a MSI K8T Neo2 with an AMD Athlon 64 x2 3800+ running
both Vista x86 and Vista x64 build 5477. I have each on
separate drives and I have not encountered any problems so far.

What happens when each of you try to install Vista?

There has to be something besides the CPU that is the problem.

None of you give any indication of what is happening when
you try to install Vista, so how can anyone make any
suggestions about what needs to be done?

Theo,

I don't no if you received my last message, my configaration:
AMD Athlon 64 x2 3800+

A. Virtual Server 2005 R2 runs on both 32-bit and 64-bit
(x64) host operating systems. It supports both AMD64 and
Intel IA-32e/EM64T (x64) processors. Note that Virtual
Server 2005 R2 does not support Itanium (IA-64) processors.
Earlier versions of Virtual Server run on x64-based hardware
provided it is running a 32-bit version of a supported host
operating system.

Note that Virtual Server 2005 R2 requires that guest
operating systems be 32-bit.

Thank you, Ill try the 32 bits version.
