What processor do you have? If you have a Athlon 64 or an Intel 64 bit CPU,
you'd get better performance with the 64-Bit version. The weak side to that,
is even less driver support than what is available right now, which is
limited quite a bit. It is improving every day, though.
Otherwise, use the 32 bit. You can use the 32 bit version on the 64 bit
CPU's as well.
Because you need all 64-bit drivers and such I'd suggest just
sticking with 32 bits. The "x64" or "x86" or whatever are needed to
address more than 4 gigabytes .. and they are fairly compatable with the older
32 bit stuff (re-compile required)
I did note HUNDREDS of new IRQs under Vista,
and once IA64 comes out then it is important to switch
(IA 64 defines HUNDREDS of new registers that the various CPU-units
can DIRECTLY OPERATE ON it is an exciting spec at least if you are
into
programming systems and low-level utilities)
Also limitations on FAT or NTFS file sizes are not changed just how much
RAM is directly addressable.
That raises a good question: why will Windows put video, audio, and
networking
all on one IRQ? everything should have its own IRQ its better and faster
this
way.
