30 second delay when starting IE6.

When I start IE, the frame of the window pops up, in the status line it says
'opening page about:blank' (my startup page is blank)
and then it sits for 30 secs and appears hung. I can't even drag this window
anywhere. I am running windows 2000, am up to date on
all updates, ran anti-virus scan and scanned for spyware.

After the delay, everything works fine until I do ctl-N or a pop-up ad tries
to open another ie window, then it hangs again for 30 secs.

Netscape browser works with no problems.

It happens to me once in a while and I think it's somehow network related.
Once I fixed it by power cycling my cable router and cable modem, but this
time it made no difference. I tried to reboot. I am not running any firewall
software and disabling my virus program makes no difference.

Help!

This type of delays is often caused by some spyware calling it's server.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware

or:

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.
