I am using a Windows 2000 SP4 machine to run a program
that communicates with Time Clocks. These Time Clocks are
at four different companies and I need to VPN into the
different companies network to be able to communicate with
the Time Clocks. A new version of software will allow me
to have one computer communicate with the four companies
but I can only have two VPN connections going at once on
my Windows 2000 box. When I try to start the 3rd VPN
connection I get the error "Error 797: The connection
failed because the modem (or other connecting device) was
not found)." I setup the connection to "connect to a
private network through the Internet" and it for some
reason the connection is looking for a modem. My question
is there a limit to the number of concurrent VPN
connections that W2K can run at one time? Is there a
registry setting or tweak that I need to use to get the
3rd VPN connection going? Thanks.
