Hi,

I'm looking for 3 different types of program:

1. An online timer. Something like the No Frills Timer but that can
calculate cost aswell.

2. A small proggie that can perform search and replace across multiple
text or html files.

3. I'm a dial up user but my modem doesn't support Caller ID.
However is there something that can alert me to whether an incoming
call has been lost?

Please help! Thanks

Well, there is CallWave.
http://www.callwave.com/landing/CORP_Main.asp

Program is free, service isn't (but cheap)

Try Tick:
http://www.reallyeffective.co.uk/tick_moreinformation.html

Try querying Google Group using the following queries (one line), especially
the longer threads:

connection-timer | online-timer | internet-timer | connection-log
group:alt.comp.freeware

connection-timers | online-timers | internet-timers | connection-logs
group:alt.comp.freeware
2. A small proggie that can perform search and replace across multiple
text or html files.

I'm not sure these qualify as small but they are powerful:

Info-Rapid Search & Replace
http://www.inforapid.de/

ReplaceEm
http://www.boolean.ca/replace/

Try both:
File |> Search & Replace
Text (various editors)
in either:
www.pricelessware.org
www.pricelesswarehome.org

Comparison of text editors (see columns 7 & 14) (you'll have to investigate
each):
http://www.woundedmoon.org/PL/TextEditorReview.php?sortby=7

For more suggestions, try:
http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/acf/P_FILEUTILITIES.php
Find: search and replace

If you have call-waiting and if your modem supports the necessary standards.
Old data-FAX modems usually don't. Most data-FAX-voice modems do. Note,
support for call-waiting does not imply support for caller-id (although the
latter implies the former, IIRC).

Try:
http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/acf/P_INTERNET.php
Find: call waiting
