3 columns of probability

I know Excell 2000 is fairly powerful, so I think it should be able to
do this, only... I can't seem to find the right helpfile for it.

What I want to do is. Take List of Data in column 1, Have Excel compare
it to List of Data in column 2, and put all matches in a list on column
3.

Then I want to take all the matches from column 3, and compare it to
new data in column 4 & 5, then have those matches show up in Column 6.

I'm trying to compare enmasse about 1000 bits of data from one time to
1000 bits of data that occure at a different time and narrow a certain
probability factor.

But I figure I might as well tell you what i'm actually doing, I'm not
really a big Excell user, I happen to play a game in my spare time, and
another roleplayer took and hid an item of value to me, and traded or
sold it off to someone else, that item resonates telepathically
whenever another roleplayer attempts to use it, so I go and get a list
of all roleplayers currently live in the game, then I sort through
them, add them all to Word and try to narrow the list by hand, but it
takes a long time, between 10000, and 20000 players on at all times and
I was looking for a faster way of doing it.

Hi Diana,
Well first of all Excel is spelled with one L.

You can read about duplicates on Chip Pearson's site
look for duplicates in his topic index.
http://www.cpearson.com/excel/topic.htm

Extracting Values Common To Two Lists
http://www.cpearson.com/excel/duplicat.htm

Use the fill handle to copy your formula down
http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/fillhand.htm

The best way besides posting to the newsgroups is to search
the archived newsgroup entries at Google Groups. Read about
at http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/xlnews.htm
and the actual search is
http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search?q=group:*Excel*&num=100
If you set up your preferences for Google you wouldn't actually
have to include the &num=100
