Hello,

Hello Rodders,

Thanks for the beep code link.

It is like: "1long, 2 short Video adapter error Either video adapter
is bad or is not seated properly. Also, check to ensure the monitor
cable is connected properly."

But weird, how can the video adapter but bad or not seated properly
and still the PC works normally?

regards,
Elias

I don't know all the signal lines in the AGP slot to know why the card
would work normally but end up issuing the BIOS error beeps. Try
removing the video card completely from the slot (be sure to touch the
case while the power cord is plugged in to ground you and eliminate any
static; touching the back of your hand or extending a finger to touch
the case when you touch and yank the video card is also helpful). Then
reseat it. Remember that AGP cards take more oomph to push them into
the slot than do PCI card; it may go partway in and feel seated but you
have to push harder to get it down completely into the slot.

The beep code also says there may be a defect with the video card. What
do you have configured in the BIOS? If it is an AGP video card, do you
have the BIOS first look for an AGP video card *before* looking for a
PCI video card? What other BIOS settings are related to video and how
are they set, like video BIOS shadowing, video caching, AGP
aperture, etc? What BIOS and version do you have?

Depend on the motherboard, which some will continue booting but some
will just halt.
