My problem is that for approximately the last four months, my computer has
often not realized that I've left-clicked or right-clicked the mouse until
several seconds after I've clicked it, or it hasn't realized I've clicked it
at all, or it has thought I've released the click when I've actually held
down the click.
From what I've read, this is a common problem that presented itself to many
Windows XP users about four months ago, about the time my problem started. If
there's another topic that has already answered this, posting a link would be
good. Thank you.
I am using a Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop (plugged in), Windows XP, Windows
Explorer 8, and several mouses (dell and microsoft)
What I've tried so far, to no avail:
I've tried three different mouses
I've went through every icon under Control Panel and turned off every
automatic updating option
I've turned off the firewall and virus protection programs
I've deleted a dozen or so programs including the Norton anti-virus one I
had and google desktop search
I've ran the Norton virus scan and it found no viruses
I've altered all the mouse configurations under the Control Panel
I've tried everything recommended in the Mouse Troubleshooter
I've checked in the Ctrl+Alt+Del window to see if a simultaneous process is
messing things up
I've changed Windows XP display options for Optimal Performance
I've tried both USB ports
I've of course tried turning the computer off and on numerous times
At this point, I'm very certain it's not the mouse messing up. Also, this
set-up was working fine until about four months ago.
What ideas do you have that might fix this? Thank you.
