I am having trouble signing into msnews.microsoft.com from the toolbar
button and the menu selection under tools.

If I try to send a message (including this one) I get "Not Responding" . I
have to then close Windows Mail from the Task Manager, reopen Windows Mail
and try to send again.

Is there some reason the Windows Mail does this even though I have given it
my Windows Live ID and password?

Any help is appreciated

If I understand you correctly, you are trying to put a Hotmail Address into
Windows Mail in vista!

Unless you use a specific update from MS to allow hotmail to be used there,
you have to use your ISP's username and password given for your internet
connection in Windows Mail.!

Windows Mail, which comes standard with Vista as the replacement for Outlook
Express, and Windows Live Mail, are two different things entirely. You don't
need a password and Windows Live ID to use Windows Mail; you would just use
your usual ISP's system that you used with XP.

Microsoft Communities is enabled by default in Windows Mail and provides
access to the MS newsgroups. MS Communities uses the Windows Live ID for
signing-in.

Accessing the msnews.microsoft.com account directly, with either Windows
Mail or Windows Live Mail, doesn't require your ISP sign in data or anything
other than a random nick and return email address.
