I just bought a new 160 gig drive, and I have hooked the
old one up to copy file to new drive 3 times. every timeI
do and restart it give me a error the a I need a boot
disk. no longer leting me run windows off the new drive i
have to reinstall XP.

Check the jumpers on the back of the drive.. if you installed the drive on
IDE 1, you will need to set it as a slave to your boot drive..

IMO, you should install the new drive as master, removing any other HDD.. do
a clean install of XP and the programs you want.. install the old boot drive
as a slave.. copy anything across that you want to save (NOT programs or any
of the Windows files).. import your address book and e-mail messages from
the old boot disk

When you are sure that everything is as you want it, reformat the old boot
drive and then use it as a backup drive for your important files..
