Hey,
I'm looking for someone to throw me a bone. I have an issue where
someone is using a Windows 2000 pro box as a file server for about 4
users. Just recently, when someone would access an office document
from the network, the server would instantly reboot. Sometimes just
highlighting the document or excel file causes the reboot. This
doesn't seem to happen if a .txt file is accessed using notepad.

I've setup a share on an external hard drive on the server and the same
thing happens. I've removed/readded the share, uninstall/reinstall
tcp/ip, uninstalled recent hotfixes, and I cannot figure out what's
doing it. I've set the OS to bluescreen instead of auto reboot, but
it does not... just an instant restart.

Anybody help me out with some ideas?

Thanks.
Craig

Use msconfig.exe to disable all non-Microsoft services
and all non-essential startup tasks, then check if this fixes
the problem.
