I can not get my media player to keep these settings ? ANY
SUGESTIONS?

Why do you want to? Those video setting are more appropriate for
ancient Windows 3.x games rather than Windows XP.

Windows XP is designed to use a default resolution of 800 x 600 and
works even better (if you have a larger monitor) at 1024 x 768.

The same thing with color depth. 256 colors is barely adequate for
the old games, and at that setting any photos or videos that you view
on your computer will be very splotchy. With modern video cards there
is no reason not to use the full 32 bit color settings, except perhaps
for some shoddily programmed older games which insist on having the
video set at exactly 256 colors.

Good luck
