Will XP see my new 250g drive as one partition if formatted to NTFS? If not,
what the limit? Drive should be here in a few days.

TIA

Depends on various detail like your motherboard bios support
for drives that big, whether you have SP1 applied to your XP and
whether you have support for drives that large enabled in XP.
If not, what the limit?

Usually the drive will be seen as a 13xGB drive.

But real old dinosaurs may just freeze during the boot.
Drive should be here in a few days.

That Santa bugger should apply a cattle prod to the reindeer.

MB is a GA-8PE667 Gigabyte which has the most recent BIOS flash along with
XP being up-to-date. The MB manual really doesn't say how big a HD is
supported. How do you turn on large drives in XP?

Is it a retail boxed harddrive with it's own controller card ?

I had a Maxtor 160GB which XP saw fine. I had SP1 and also made sure
that the level of atapi.sys was at the right level according to the
Microsoft article. The drive died after using it about a month and I
guess the only consolations were 1) no irrecoverable data on the drive
(used as a video capture drive) and 2)Maxtor replaced it with a 250G
:-)
