How do i Installl XP on a 250 GB drive when windows limits it to 137
GB....aparently service pack 1 takes care of this limitation..however it
seems like a catch 22 i have to install first to download Sp1 but i doubt
that would open up the rest of the drive? maybe it does?

any way around this?
Thanks in advance!

You need to slipstream SP1 into the XP install disk. Here are instructions:

Get hold of a copy of XP with SP1 integrated OR see if the HDD
manufacturer has any utils to help.

Next time, please take such questions to a *windows* or *microsoft*
newsgroup; you'll get better answers and not bother those of us who
subscribed because this is supposed to be a *hardware* newsgroup.

Note to JAD: This one's for you.
Normally, I wouldn't repeat myself so soon.

Either install XP using a slipstreamed XP+SP1 CD, or install XP to the
137 GB partition, upgrade it with SP1 and then enlarge the partition
with Partition Magic or other partition tool.

I checked out Eddies post went to the link that he supplied. I don't think
there could be a better answer given than his, and I'll be darned, it was
even in this newsgroup. BTW thanks Eddie, I'll be using that link to update
my old XP cd tonight

No problem. I used those same instructions when I was installing XP on my
160 GB drive. Good luck!

Yes, a HOMEBUILT HARDWARE newsgroup. So in fact virtually anything
posted about hardware which the person hasn't specifically designed or
built hiumself is OT in this group. Which means 99.99% of posts in this
group are OT.

So unless you build your own hardware then going by your standards you
shouldn't be in here should you?
