How do I burn a 2hr and 55 minute movie on a disc that's only 120 minutes long?
Maybe in two parts?

Wow! That's a huge project. You may have
problems when you try to publish it.

IMHO...it would have been best to create
several smaller projects.

Have you tried to save (publish) the project
to your hard drive in a movie format (.wmv
or .avi?) See: "To publish a movie to your
computer" in the article below:

(If you manage to save the complete file in
a movie format without crashing your computer...
you can reimport it into Movie Maker and split
it into smaller sections. Then save each section
as a separate file and finally you can burn the
project on more than one DVD.)

I have never used the DVD burning feature for Vista but:

The DVD burning software that comes with Vista "may" have the option to
reduce the quality of the output to the DVD to increase the time allowed for
the project.

If not, are you using a dual layer DVD burner and DVD disk and does the
Vista burning program allow for dual layer DVDs?

The burning software I use does allow for both of the above (Roxio's product
and also Ulead's product.) In other words, check all the options for the
burning software to allow longer movie DVDs. Just like my standalone (TV
top) DVD burner it can be programmed to burn 1, 2, 4 or 8 hour DVDs. Most
computer DVD burners don't care about the size of the movie, it is the
software sending the data to the DVD burner that does matter.
