All the links worked for me using Internet Explorer. Let me know
which ones you are having a problem with.

Cliptrak

The following give me the error message:
ClockRack
FindOrphans
HDValet
ScreenSieze

Since some of the others work, I don't think it's a Netscape problem?

They was a space like this "Multi- Platform" when it should have
been
"Multi-Platform" I made the links shorter. They should work for
you now.

FindOrphans gives two kinds of reports. One is what it calls an "Orphans"
report. It's not even worth the time to look at it. There will be hundreds
of files tagged by it as possible orphans, which are not so.

FindOrphans does give a second type of report, the one it calls a "Problems"
report. For a listing of those EXEs that will likely be unable to find their
supporting libraries (DLLs etc).

There was a request for a function such as this not long back:

: Subject: Is there a .dll dependency scanner that will...
: From: "Andreas Perfora’tus [Stu]" <[email protected]>
: Date: Wed, 26 Nov 2003 17:43:49 GMT
: Message-ID: <[email protected]>
:
: scan ALL program files and make note of any referenced dll's that do not
: exist on my system?
:
: I have "dependency walker" but it only scans one .exe at a time. Surely
: there must be something similar that would scan the entire system like
: DLLArchive by analogueX but finds mssing dlls instead of unused ones.

The thread developed with some good articles, on topics such as files not
having their dependency list in their headers, the advantage of using
Dependency Walker's "profiling" function for individual execs, and so on.
Related to reasons discussed there, the FindOrphans "Problems" report cannot
be exhaustive. There is furthermore a "false positives" scenario described
Find Orphan's help file, one that can involves entries in the registry's app
paths key.

Despite this, the program does, to the extent which is feasible, serve to
address that poster's request. Basically, to scan the disk as a whole in
order to provide a listing of EXEs who are missing the DLLs they need. I
don't know of another program that offers this function, one that is full
freeware...

Comments. I just now generated this. It's correct that I need the DLL for
the w99 resource meter. About the missing Delphi libraries, I'll have to
run the program and see what's up. The weird stuff from MyIE 3.3, think
I'll just remove that whole folder. The pdh.dll, that was something evil
related to IE, some kind of nag thing, and its absence is deliberate.
About the Mozilla, no idea, since I haven't checked what that exec does.
Etc etc. As a whole, it's a good report, useful to me. Of course, as with
any kind of report dealing with DLLs, you only use it as a first step...
when you have time on your hands.

Thanks for review comments.

A glitch in Netscape just now in this reply. Normally, when I post a
reply to a ng post, by default, the entire original post is included in
my message screen. Not this time, you can see where it clipped off.

Life is never dull.
