Thought some of you might be interested in this:

On Sunday (June 23), the moon will be at its closest point to Earth — called perigee. This relatively close brush will happen as the moon enters its fullest phase, creating the cosmic coincidence known as the supermoon. At its fullest and closest, the moon will appear about 12 percent larger in the sky.

"It doesn't matter where you are, the full moon you're seeing will be the biggest for 2013,"

The full moon tonight is called a super perigee moon since it is at its closest to Earth in 2011. The last full moon so big and close to Earth occurred in March 1993.

Hope cloudiness doesn't ruin the view. :)

Such a shame that the weather is so cloudy where we are today, it would have been great to see! :(

Nice and clear in my part of London. But sadly I think beer consumption is taking its effect and I might be asleep by the time the moon shows its face :fool::fool:

Well I'm still in work until 11pm. Wonder if I'll catch a glimpse on the way home? Do you think some who do not know about this may freak out? lol

Can't see a thing here way too much cloud cover and very blustery means the wind is pushing the cloud cover over constantly.

Here's what I could see from me flat :D

It brightened-up here during the evening, so at half-past midnight, we were able to get a good view of the moon. Quite a sight, which my pic doesn't really do justice to. But here it is :D

Summer "up here" is sooooo [am running out of adjectives]... but short.

P.S. "White nights": Locations where the sun is less than 7 degrees below the horizon which are above 59° 34’ latitude (Helsinki: 60° 10' 15" N) that are south of the Arctic Circle or north of the Antarctic Circle experience midnight twilight instead of the midnight sun. So that daytime activities, such as reading, are still possible without artificial light on a clear night. (OK, fine, small print excluded.)
