I have recently partitioned my hard drive and it seems since then I have been
having trouble with programs freezing and now I get a message that
says..........".The primary IDE hard drive self monitoring system has
reported that a parameter has exceeded it's normal operating range". Is this
related to the fact that I have patitioned the hard drive or what? Any ideas
on how to correct this problem? Thanks

Presuming you did it correctly, the act of partitioning a hard disk causes
no problems.

Go to the disc manufacturer's web site, then download and run their
diagnostic tests. Do it now, since you may have a (hardware) problem with
the hard disc. The company will replace the disc if it's under warranty.
Meanwhile, backup regularly and often.

In future, posting a question with a more descriptive subject then "??????"
will be more likely to get your post noticed.
