Hi,

Can someone tell me wether the 22 inch limit for reports in ms access is
resolved in access 2003 ?

Thx,
Andy

It has been resolved ever since Access 1.0 -- the limit is 22". That is, it
is a specification, not a problem. And, given the amount of information that
a human mind can visualize and grasp at once, it has never seemed an
unreasonable limitation to me.

You can work around the limitation, to some extent, by using Subreport
controls.

Also, my reports are primarily intended for printing, and I have never had
access to a printer with sheets of paper longer than 22".

Maybe I should have given more information:
I'm using an fmsmemo on on of my reports, and on a report it will not grow
beyond the 22" inch (2 pages an a half) so this is a problem for people
writing a book...
I already have written some rtf-splitting functions so for now the issue is
resolved and i can print hundred of rtf text pages...

An alternative would be switching to crystal or some other reporting
engine...

All ActiveX controls are subject to the 22.75" limit...period.
If you are writing a book then using Access is simply wrong. Use Word
instead.

Switching to Crystal Reports will not help in this case.

If already tested it with crystal reports and with active reports... It does
work. the controls grow as expected
The crystal/active report uses it's own rtf control on its reports and with
odbc or dao you fetch the rtf-stream from an access db.

The only 2 things which are keeping me from buying it: 1 price , 2 not fully
compatible/integratable with access...

I didn't know that Andy. I have an older version(pre Ver 8) on this
machine.
Thanks for the info.
Access should natively support RTF. It's the only way we are ever going
to get around this issue.
