2007 OUtlook - cateory and rules

I had a calendar item in 2/1. I edited it. then I added a category to it and
when I did it copies down calendar every week. Why?

I checked my recurrence set up and weekly is the default but why did it
copy. Where can I set the default to no recurrence. Recurrence was NOT
seleced when I set the category.???
 
Excellent! Yes, I am on a Dell Laptop Inspiron XPS M1530 running Vista.
