I'm in the process of downloading patches for the daylight savings changes
for 2007, I've downloaded patches for Windows Server 2003 and XP, but when I
get to Windows 2000 server it's a 19 page article all about registry
settings, and it's not very clear what changes need to be made.

Of all things I don't want to be messing with the registry on my servers.
Does anyone know if there's just a patch out there for W2K SP4?

There is the unoffical patch posted just nine threads ago.

See:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914387

"Create a registry file for English builds of Windows" shows how to create
the TZupdate.reg

Then skip to
"Step 2: Use a script to reload the TimeZoneInformation registry key" this
section shows how to create the refreshTZinfo.vbs.

You then run the TZupdate.reg followed by the refreshTZinfo.vbs and test
according to the section "How to confirm that the time zone changes have
been applied"

Done it and it works. It will walk you through pushing out the group policy.

I downloaded the Tzedit.exe utility that was at the tail end of that long
involved article and think it might be a little more straightforward.
Luckily I've only got 1 workstation with W2K professional on it, but most of
my servers are still W2K and I don't want to be messing with the registry on
any of them, I just don't feel comfortable with that.

I don't know what I'm going to do about the 3 NT workstations and hand full
of W98 machines I have to support though.

Sit tight. Someone will come up with the solution and/or patches. It always
happens. There are still some users who are running MS-DOS, Windows 3.X and
Windows 9.X. We will all persevere, in one way or another, including doing
a manual time change.

I've used it with great success. And, have been in communication with the
author. He provides great service.

I tested it per the author's instructions. Worked for me.
Set your clock and date to the second Sunday in March, and put it at 1:59am.
It will go to 3:00am if working properly. Then, set back when you done.

Thanks for the info. I will try it on the W2K desktop. I can test it on the
PCs, but not on the Domain controllers. It's been my experience that if any
of my servers differ more than 10 minutes in time it wreaks havoc on the
entire organization.

Worked fine on my domain controllers.
