Hi

I am just wondering if it is worth my while getting updated to Office 2007
from Office 2003? I would be glad to hear from anyone who has an oppinion on
this.
Thanks

LAM,
Depending on the person who anwers this question you will get different
answers. Basically there is no need to upgrade if you are satisfied with PPT
2003. On the other hand if you need flexible masters with your own
placeholders and have a lot of graphics that you want to give drop shadows,
glows bevels and such it is quite another thing.
There is of course the new interface which takes getting used to. Some
people hate it, others love it. It will require quite a steep learning
curve.
So depending on the work you want to do with PowerPoint an upgrade could
just be the thing for you.

I like the new PowerPoint 2007. But it depends on the work you want to
accomplish with it, and about which I know nothing.

Have a look for yourself: "The Microsoft Office Fluent user interface demo",

or download a trial copy:

PowerPoint 2003 before installing 2007).

Best regards,
Ute

Thank You for the quick reply...What I do most with Power Point is put
pictures to music sort of a look back at the month (for a school) the biggest
issue I had was the long pause at the end of a slide with the music stoping
before the slide was done...does 2007 address this or is it the same? Does
2007 have any other features than 2003 that would help me with doing these
types of picture to music PowerPoints?
Thanks so much again for helping me on here.

PPT 2007 is the same. There is a "play across slides" setting on the ribbon
so it's faster to set up, but otherwise it's the same as far as the music
goes. But for pictures, there are a ton of cool things you can do with
pictures formatting that you couldn't do -- or was a pain to do -- in PPT
2003. Reflections, bevels, 3D rotation, stuff like that.

But why not use Movie Maker if you're setting photos to music? It does a
much better job at this kind of thing than PPT does. You can download Movie
Maker free from microsoft.com

Just as everyone else has said it's great graphically. I like it much better
than 2003. However, please keep in mind that if you plan on running your
Powerpoint 2007 presentations on computers with 2003 and 2007, then you may
have issues with slide layouts, particularly the title layouts. The masters
are set up differently in 2003 and 2007 so the presentations don't move from
version to version smoothly.

Thank You very much for the information

LAM,

I've been using 2007 for a month now.

If you are just pasting pictures and playing songs on Power Point, then you
might be okay.

I'm having a huge issue with Excel, Word and the rest with this new Ribbon
user interface.

I've downloaded an add-in to revert to the old 2003 user interface (FILE,
EDIT, VIEW, ... menus across the top) but even with this add-in I can't do
what I want as far as customizing the buttons that I want in one place for
uncommon commands that I use extensively.

I hope that Microsoft will offer their own add-in so that we can revert to
the old style with 2007.

Good luck!
