2003 VPN & SQL logging

Is there any documentation regarding the setup and use of
SQL logging? I am able to connect to the SQL server
(SQL200 SP3 SQLXML installed) but when any type of
auditing is enabled, external authentication into the VPN
server sends an error to the user regarding a bad password.
 
I think you need to install and configure IAS in order for it to work. I'm
not sure if it's a bug or not but as soon as you try to enable SQL loggining
VPN stops working.
