Hello all.
Probably a dumb question, but I cannot find any documentation. If I am
using a W2K3 TS in a W2K only Active Directory domain, am I stuck with only
the global policies available via W2K? Can I add a template to get the
additional options available with W2K3 global policies? Obviously, I could
upgrade my DC's to W2K3, but I was looking for an interim solution.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Garret,

I just went through this whole process myself. There is a interim fix
available, which is to use the Group Policy Object Editor on the 2003 system
and browse to the group policy within Active Directory (i.e. default domain
policy). From there you can update the Administrative Templates to take
advantage of the new policies within 2003.

Keep in mind that 2000 cannot see these new settings, but it will still
enforce them. If you open the GPO editor on 2000 you will not see these
optins and the administrative template will be downgraded back to 2000 (don't
worry, the new 2003 settings will still be enforced). Once you open the GPO
on 2003 and update the template you will be able to access it again.

Reply here if you have any questions so we can help out anyone else in this
same situation.

Thanks
