I'm running W2K with AD, with a mix of W2K pro and XP clients. is it
possible to use the security templates from a 2003 server and apply
them on my 2000 servers? if so , where do I find the templates on the
2003 server?

If you are talking about the .inf security templates, they are not compatible with
the W2K servers themselves. The security options in particular are very different.
Security templates can be accessed/viewed/modified/created via the Security Templates
mmc snapin.--- Steve

Hi Pat,

Thanks for your posting here.

Yes, we can use the Windows Server 2003 Security Templates. The *.adm files
are in "windows\inf" folder.

Bob,
while watching a webcast on W2K security, I notice they have security
temlpates in the system call Enterprise Client-domain.inf, Enterprise
Client-File Server.inf etc. I do not see these in my 2003 server, are
these available anywhere? the webcast does not say if they are custom
made or come with the system. thanks

thank you. I have another question, I test these polices in a lab
first, then I apply the print server inf to my print server and it
disables too much and stops working. can I remove the template back
out?

Hi Pat,

Please disable the GPO for your domain. Does it work?
