Mucho outlook 2002 problems- If I call Microsoft for help 1 more time*(*(^
I have outlook 2002, and have always had issues....more recently, 1 that I
could "live with" is the inability to use the rules wizard- when I press the
menu option...NADA,
worst than that was when an MSN, tech in trying to help me with duplicate
email boxes took over my PC and voila-- No Send option.
I was using earthlink and have now dsl (thru a wireless adapter to another pc)
I decided to use MSN,I was using the connector, but if you can't send...
what's the point.
So, I would like to install 2003...Here's the perhaps, "junior" question. I
worry that my glitches will follow me? I'd love to try and get all of my
addresses (two books, also not pointing to the right one) The issue is I
store a "ton" of emails for my business and was hoping.. I could install 2003
into a different drive (partioned a D drive) and keep both versions.?????? I
read something about dll's getting messed up if two of the same programs are
running on the same PC.
What a mess....(back to MSN tonite:(
Thanks

You cannot install more than one version of Outlook on one machine. After
you do an upgrade to Outlook 2003 remove your mail profile and create a new
one (install the MSN Outlook conector first if you are allowed to use it)
and configure your MSN account. To create a new mail profile go to Control
Panel-> Mail-> button Show Profiles...

Note that Rules only work for POP3 and Exchange accounts. When you are using
an MSN account create your rules through the Hotmail interface.

Do you store your contacts in a pst-file? If so connect to the pst-file
through File-> Open-> Outlook Data File and move your Contacts to where you
want to store them (suggestion; in the Contacts folder of your MSN account).

You didn't include any details on your sending problems so I cannot help you
with that. If you donn't have a send button in most cases it means that you
don't have a properly configured account.

Tips of the month:
-FREE tool; QuickMail. Create new Outlook items anywhere from within Windows
-Properly back-up and restore your Outlook data

Thanks Sparnaaij BUT I'm an OUTLOOK moron--DUH!
1_ how does one intall the MSN outlook connector?? Do I unintall the one
that's there. Also to reinstall it.. where do I find it.
2_ You said after I upgrade to 2003- my question is: if I upgrade...what
happens to the problems I have in 2002?? I'm missing the send option
altogether--(MSN did a remote on my pC!)
3_ I have a number of profiles..how do I know which to delete?
4_Create a rule through the hotmail interface?? Is the options similiar to
outlook's rules options, ie color, move automatically to folders, seach
subject line , etc.
In a perfect world, I'd love to continue using linksys wireless network to
use my husband's DSL which is verizon- hence MSN ( I have no clue what
hotmal's piece is in this as I only sign in to MSN. Due to the problems with
Outlook.. I'm now using MSN calendar and email....GRRRRRRR
5_ You mention to move my contacts .pst file to msn contacts...can I do the
same with outlook's emails/ I would love to uninstall outlook 2002 and not
upgrade but go to a new 2003 installation. Could the corrupted files of 2002
be absorbed in to 2003? like the.dll files?
6_Re: Send Button You said" If you donn't have a send button in most cases
it means that you > don't have a properly configured account." and what do I
do? how would I know it's not properly configured?
7_ Your tip of the day: "> -FREE tool; QuickMail. Create new Outlook items
anywhere from within Windows"
Where is this application found??
I wanna stay with outlook BUT I worry as I see all the issues others are
having.. I thought I was goofing up _ (could be both:)
thank you soooo much for your help..

Oops, I've been out of this newsgroup for a while. Hope this is still
relevant;

1) If you have a paid subscription for MSN then you can use the MSN Outlook
connector. I have a download link to the latest connector version in the
Microsoft section;
http://www.howto-outlook.com/downloads

2) Since we are talking about a configuration issue your problems can be
fixed in either version 2002 or 2003. The instructions I gave are
independent from the version being used

3) Check what profile is the default one in Control Panel-> Mail. For more
info about recreating your mail profile see;
http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/newprofile.htm

4a) There are a number of rules you can configure on the webbased version of
Hotmail. However these are limited compared with Outlook. Colorcoding
messages are view settings which can be done from within the Outlook
interface. For that see;
http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/coloremail.htm

4b) With the MSN Outlook connector you can access your Hotmail contacts and
calendar from within the Outlook interface. Very cool! :-)

5a) You can connect to your pst-file by using File-> Open-> Outlook Data
File... When you use the MSN Outlook Connector you can even upload messages
to your Hotmail account. Even cooler than 4b! :-)

5b) When you uninstall Outlook 2002 the dll-files are removed as well. I
doubt that there is a corruption as I truly believe your issues are
configuration related

6) Already taken care of when you create a new profile ;-)

7) There is a big link to it right below the site Navigation buttons. You
should also be able to find it in the Downloads section at the top. If you
still can't find it you can just press the link below
http://www.howto-outlook.com/products/quickmail.htm

"I wanna stay with outlook BUT I worry as I see all the issues others are
having.. I thought I was goofing up _ (could be both:)"

It may look hard at first to get you properly configured and receover from
your earlier configuration issues but I can ensure you that you'll love
having Outlook with the MSN Outlook Connector.
