2003 server shares show as "disconnected" instead of network drive

Greetings:

I have a 2000 and a 2003 server. Both are DCs and both are file servers. I
did all the updates before running adprep/forestprep (at least I think I did)
which I did before adding the 2003 as a DC. I probably have a lot more issues
than the one I am describing (I'm learning as I go), but my most obvious
problem is that shares from the 2003 show as "disconnected", while shares
from the 2000 show as "network drive" on client computers. I can click in the
disconnected drive and it turns into a "network drive" as long as I do so
fairly soon after logon. I'm hoping someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong
that would make the shares automatically list as a network drive.
Thanks

by default in Win2k3 the Everyone group does not have full rights to the
shares....... make sure to give that group full control to the share, then
check the permissions below that.
